A LITTLE HISTORY…

Initially used for silkworm breeding in the 19th century, the property was used for market gardening until after the Second World War.
Then, Mr. Fernand Gontier, the new owner, established a vine clonal propagation center for the vine nursery in 1960. His son, Pierre Gontier, took over and developed the production of wine grapes, then their vinification, culminating in the construction of his own winery in 1993. He produces Ventoux AOP wines and varietal wines.

FAMILY HISTORY

Famille Gontier vignerons à Pernes les fontaines
In 2004, the third generation arrived with Nancy Gontier, Pierre's second daughter. She took over the family business and, with her husband, chef Hugues Marrec, created a wine tourism venture including bed and breakfast rooms and an inn, both managed by him. In 2010, her older sister, Alexandra, joined the winery to develop direct sales to individuals, thus creating a special connection between wine lovers and the estate.

A COMMITTED DOMAINE

In addition to being an organic vineyard, the Domaine de la Camarette is involved in various associations with an environmental impact.

The "Femmes Vignes Rhône" association, founded in 2004 by Anne Hugues and supported by Inter Rhône, brings together professional women working in the Rhône Valley wine industry. From winemakers and sommeliers to those in marketing and communications roles, they strive to promote the role of women in a traditionally male-dominated sector. This diverse community fosters cooperation and constructive exchanges, creating a positive environment for women working in wine, prioritizing collaboration over rivalry.
With the approach “ Rendez-Vous Terroirs ", a selection of winegrowers and merchants from the vineyards of the Rhône Valley are committed to welcoming visitors in the best possible conditions for hospitality, tastings, and, for some, vineyard tours. Based on adherence to 89 criteria, this initiative guarantees visitors a successful experience, whether for a wine purchase or a more comprehensive wine tourism experience.
